L/O: to produce a concise and well structured statement outlining your chosen brief

I intend to create a music video, which follows the story of two people meeting up to do a spiritual ritual. The idea of a spiritual ritual conforms to the genre conventions of the rock genre. My audience are 16–25-year-olds who are obsessed with rock music. They are of any gender and will access music through a wide range of methods, such as streaming or buying CDs/Vinyl records. Through repeating codes & conventions of a rock music video, the audience will enjoy it because it fits what they are used to seeing and will provide them with entertainment. My music video will fit the core values of UMG, showing artistry, creativity, and innovation through the skill of creating/performing in a music video. I will use a range of Media Language to achieve this. The Mise-En-Scene will include Dark clothing, Punk accessories, ritualistic symbols and ‘Twannas.’ These conform to genre conventions of the Rock Genre. Keeley will be wearing a watch with rainbow colours which will represent her LGBTQ+ identity. I will use a wide range of Camera shot types and angles, which is common in rock music videos. The editing will match the melody/beat of the song I have chosen, which fits conventions of rock music videos. Using the ‘Twannas’ will create intertextual references to the Blair Witch Project and the darker clothing will create intertextual references to the repeated representations of rock artists. The use of media language will represent my band as powerful/mysterious. The use of the Rainbow colours on the watch wristband combined with this use of media language will create positive representations of the LGBTQ+ community and appeal to my audience’s left-wing opinion. In addition, my use of both male and female actors will attract audience members of different genders. 

 

I will create a website which will be used to promote my band. it will include my current music video, a social media feed. My site will also include a 'merch' page to allow my audience to buy band merchandise. I will target my audience through including links to social media/streaming services, as well as providing access to tour dates/tickets and merchandise. These are aspects commonly found on rock websites. Including buttons which would take the user to different pages creates interactivity for my audience, allowing them to interact with the page. Including the feature of a social media logos and a feed appeals to my younger audience, who are likely to actively use social media as well as appealing to their love for streaming music on streaming services. This will also help with the promotion of my music video, as the social media posts will be promoting the song + video. Furthermore, including logos of brands such as YouTube, Apple music and Spotify will promote the music video, as they could watch the video on YouTube and stream the songs on Spotify and Apple music. Another feature that I will include on my website will be a video of myself entering Wembley Stadium from my Point of View which will be a teaser for where my band will be performing next. This appeals to my target audience, as they love to attend concerts as often as possible. 

 

My website and music video will be linked through synergy and branding which are important for creating brand identity between different products. At the end of my music video, I will have a link to my website and use it to promote new merchandise and my website will have my music video linked to it. My music video and my website will both include my band's logo, and the actors in my music video will also be the models for my photography on my website. I will use a similar colour palette for each product and include similar font styles for any text included in both products. My website will be unique to many other rock websites by including a social media feed (posts from my band on social media). I will use social media to promote both my music video and website, such as posts saying, "Our new music video is yours to view" or "merchandise available at www...". I will also include the social media logos on the page with a 'social media feed' as a part of the homepage.
